RDUCON, short for Raleigh Durham Convention, is a big event opportunity we employ to promote the hobby and art of scale modeling in the Capital and surrounding region.

Our central location makes us an ideal place for modelers to congregate for a fun filled event.

So if you build scale models or are  interested in seeing and learning about historical subjects.

Come out to compete, learn about the historical  subjects, or just to see beautifully crafted scale models such as aircraft, armored vehicles, ships, figures, dioramas,  cars/trucks, space, and science fiction/fantasy subjects.

RDUCON contest & show info

RDUCON 2008 held May 17th at Wake Tech Community college was the club’s return to holding a model show and contest after an extended absence. Our theme for the show was to celebrate our club’s namesake Eagle Squadron from it’s RAF roots where American volunteers answered the call of the British to fly Hurricanes and later Spitfires through  its impressive history in the 4th Fighter Group to present day located at North Carolina’s Seymour Johnson AFB with their F-15E Strike Eagles.

EAGLE SQUADRON CHAPTER

NORTH CAROLINA'S RESEARCH TRIANGLE AREA

In 2011 it’ll have been 30 years of the Space Shuttle, 50 years since man first orbited the earth,  70 years since the attack on Pearl Harbor and the formation of the 1st black flight school at Tuskegee.  It has been 100 years for Chevrolet or since the 1st  running of the Indy 500. A hundred years ago  the 1st aircraft landing on a ship occurred and  the South Pole was reached. So many great anniversaries including our own Eagle Squadron modeling club reaching it’s 30th year. With such a diverse set of anniversaries we again look forward to a great range of modeling subjects depicting these historical events to learn from and admire.

We have over 70 categories and special awards catering to a broad range of subject areas for modelers of junior to more advanced skill levels. The venue is a good place to display your work, pickup models and accessories, swap stories and get tips. Like before a fun raffle and attractive awards. For the kids we will have a “make n take” where they can build a model.

So come on out, bring your models, come see some great scale subjects, learn about their history, and have some fun at our event.

Coming very soon will be the show details page
